For the past 12 months, we have been testing different ways of capturing not only our learning, but the progress, outcomes and value add of the work we do. We are stoked to have completed our first learning report, E Tupu E Rea showcasing our mahi.

The plan for removing streaming from our schools includes the whakapapa of streaming to grow awareness of the issue, showcase alternatives, and outline the actions the key agencies have committed to, to ensure the end goal of removing streaming from our schools.

“From the perspective of being a part of the Mātauranga Innovation Hubs workshops, I think the partnership has been well supported, thoughtful and researched. There has been input and buy-in from all sides – both tangata Tiriti and mana whenua. It makes me hopeful for the future.”

“I’m really passionate about ending streaming because it was a killer for me at school – you’re either with the dummies or you were with the brainies. Thirty years later and going to university for the first time and realising I’m not dumb and I do have a brain. And it was the school that sucked that out of me”.

Mātauranga Innovation Hubs

“We are early in our journey, but I think the way that we are doing it is quite different and unique. We have flipped the model around on expectation where mana whenua come in, we take their time/ideas, and then they go back to their marae or wherever. So, we have tried here to flip that and take some responsibility through Tokona which is great. We should be leveraging these things, Tokona is there for a reason. It is still early days to make these calls.”
