Being embarrassed or scared to be Māori in a predominantly white environment.

Whakamā in an environment where racial ideas are still consistent
A country so proud,
Yet white ideas are very loud
From the way that we talk to the way that we walk
An image placed.
Since the colonisation that our tīpuna faced
Indigenous people wanting change, even just a little
A change for the future,
Before our tāonga Māori are stripped and cut clean by the butcher
Where does it end? How much more do we defend?
Our tino rangatiratanga
To stand tall like our lofty Maunga
Whakamā in an environment where racial ideas are still consistent
Kia Kaha te tū
For our future, and for you.
